Why QR codes are useful for businesses at this time?

Come to think of it, QR codes are very helpful nowadays. I've seen this on other platforms (starts with P, G, and now the most-hyped L) as they are used on restaurants, boutiques and other establishments for faster, more convenient cashless transactions.

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) recently rolled out its Cashless Negosyo webinar series in North Luzon, which aims to boost the ability of small entrepreneurs to adapt to the new reality as consumers turn to e-commerce due to quarantine constraints amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to BPI, digital payments will aid small business owners to ensure personal, employee, and customer safety. This will help them abide by the government’s minimum health protocols, and enables them to offer their goods and services online or via delivery.  It also allows them to reach as many customers despite quarantine restrictions.

“BPI provides cashless payment option to small business owner or sole proprietor clients of the bank and help minimize if not eliminate waiting lines in their stores because their customers can just scan the QR code simultaneously to pay for their purchases. That is why for small business owners who will be generating their own QR code, it is important to make QR standees so that customers can check out faster,” said BPI Division Head for North Luzon, Marwin Galvez.

BPI reiterated that cashless payments made via QR code is not only faster and safer, but is also more accurate than using electronic fund transfer as payment option

because it’s less prone to typing erroneous details compared to doing fund transfer by inputting the 10-digit account number.  It eliminates the risk of transferring money to a wrong account.

BPI noted that from 70 percent in March this year, the number of transactions done digitally have now increased to 90 percent in November. More than half of its 8 million clients are also now registered to the bank’s digital platforms for their everyday banking needs.

Small business owners may promote their cashless payment option to encourage and reassure customers that it is still safe to shop through this contact less payment method.

“We encourage small business owners to make use of the QR code system as a way of protecting them and their clients as the market shifts to more online transactions and digital living in the new normal,” Mr. Galvez added.

QR Code for cashless transactions via BPI's Digital Doc Program

Been doing succeeding trips to the hospital this past few weeks and it's been evident that the use of QR code really helps, as long as you have your mobile data and your favorite QR app, you are ready to go.

This has been a great help for those who doesn't want to contact anything physically while outside - the QR codes posted on pharmacies and hospitals eliminate the use of paper trails and pens that was also being used by others, mostly for contact tracing purposes.

Good thing for those who are in need to go to the hospital for consultation purposes, cashless transactions are safer using the Digital Doc Program.

“We are thrilled to share the benefits of cashless transactions -- in enabling online health consultations and in keeping us all (doctors and patients alike) safe during these trying times,”  said BPI Deputy Head of Marketing Mariana Zobel de Ayala. “In addition to keeping us safe from COVID-related health risks, the use of QR codes keep your bank accounts safer as well -- they are less prone to errors that often happen when keying in account numbers and transfer amounts.”

Patients can pay in seconds and for free -- by just scanning the QR code and inputting the payment amount. Doctors, in turn, are able to monitor their funds anytime, anywhere through BPI Online or BPI Mobile app.

“As BPI, we hope to be a partner for our healthcare professionals -- in enabling them with what is needed to adapt to the next normal, and more importantly, to keep them safe, ” she said.

To activate a QR code for free, doctors are invited to      log in to BPI Online or BPI Mobile app and select “Other Services,” followed by “QR Generator.” From there, they simply select the account for which they wish to generate a QR code for, and can even add a nickname or label for their QR code -- so that it is easily recognizable for anyone they send to. They have the option to include an amount requested for payment -- but either way, by clicking “Save to Device” they can access it easily anytime -- and send it to their patients as they wish.       Beyond the benefits of convenience, BPI’s digital banking platforms offer security features to ensure protection of your data and account information.

Visit the BPI website at https://www.bpi.com.ph/accept-payments-with-a-qr-code to know more about accepting payments via QR code.

This up and upcoming entertainment app allows users to play while allowing users to celebrate their important dates like birthdays, anniversaries, and many more. exciting cash prices awaits all winners playing using the app.

While millennials are the main audience targeted with the launch of the app, Seaver Choy, Minedomain Inc. IT officer shared that ease of use is one of the main factors their team considered in developing Birthday Panalo to make it enjoyable for users across various age groups.

"We want the millennials to love this game so we went for what millennials want most -- ease of use. We only put in the necessary elements for users to be able to do what they need to do fast and immediately," he said.

"We focused on the user experience when we were developing by having iterating designs that had constant user feedback. Birthday Panalo has gone through multiple design changes based on different user feedback across different groups," Choy added.

The core group which made and designed the Birthday Panalo app was an all-Filipino team composed of professionals from the country’s top universities including De La Salle University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and University of the East.

"Birthday Panalo app was built with resilience and celebrations in mind. We made it fun and easy to bet but still overly secure," Choy furthered, assuring users that the personal data and information they input within the Birthday Panalo app are protected according to industry standards.

Choy noted that the Birthday Panalo app has been tested by local and international cybersecurity companies like GLI, Bolton Labs, and Mantua, among others, to ensure that the app has the needed safety measures in place to avoid leakage of user data.

"Internally, we are also certified when it comes to how we operate and how we maintain the application," Choy said.

Celebrations made even more rewarding

Get protected with Derma Science Hand Gel

I may not yet recovered from fever and I may be positive for having the COVID-19 virus (still waiting for my swab results tom, I'm currently in isolation), but despite that, I see to it that I will practice the necessary precautions to be protected, and to protect others from getting sick.

And that being said, I have my newest addition of sanitizer in my go-to bag, and I am thankful that Derma Science Hand Gel is now available online (ShopeeLazada, website) since its official launch last week, and I hope it'll be available in all convenience stores, pharmacies, and supermarkets nationwide.

I have my travel-sized alcohol and sanitizer from Derma Science and I chose to bring them both with me whenever I'm outside for errands. But it makes me wonder:

Question, what's the difference between the two?

Alcohols and gel sanitizers can BOTH protect us from germs and viruses, depending on its concentration. Alcohols can be messy especially if they are not in a spritzer bottle, and they tend to evaporate immediately. Gel sanitizers, on the other hand, are more concentrated, but there are some sanitizers that I tried that are harmful to the skin. The good thing about Derma Science Hand Gel is the fact that it doesn't have parabens and coloring agents that are known to be harmful, especially those who have sensitive skin.

The first thing I noticed after I first tried Derma Science Hand Gel is the fact that it doesn't have any sticky feeling after applying. it has a mild chamomile scent. But I personally love the travel-sized variant for it has a sweet cherry blossom scent.

Added to that, Derma Science Hand Gel are priced reasonably and they come in different sizes:

  • 100ml bottle with Sakura Extract, best for travel and personal use, priced at Php 110
  • 490ml pump bottle with German Chamomile extract for general use (reasonably priced at Php 320)

Get yours at ShopeeLazada and tru Good and Grains website. Don't forget to follow Derma Science Hand Gel on Facebook and Instagram

Fiipino Artist David Medalla posthumously honored by BDO

LEGACY TO HONOR. David Medalla visited the BDO Corporate Center Ortigas during the inauguration of his sculpture, “Cloud Canyons No. 31,” on August 31, 2019.

BDO Unibank honors Filipino artist David Medalla, who passed away on December 28, 2020.

It commemorates Medalla’s legacy with the continued display of his sculpture, “Cloud Canyons No. 31,” at the lobby of its Corporate Center in Ortigas (CCO).

“Cloud Canyons No. 31” found its way to CCO for bank employees, clients, and visitors to enjoy in 2019. Before coming home to the Philippines, it was exhibited in the Hepworth Wakefield art museum in England when Medalla was one of the shortlisted artists for the inaugural Hepworth Wakefield Prize for Sculpture in 2016. It is made of plexiglas tubes, wood, fibreglass, water, soap, and oxygenators, and is part of a series often referred to as the “bubble machines.”

Mara Coson, who oversees the BDO Art Collection, said of Medalla’s passing:

“David Medalla was magnetic. He lived a life that drew people in while he himself could not be contained. He left the world with stories so wild and infinite they can never all be told.

“Medalla was born in Manila in 1942, with literary and visual genius uniquely attributable only to his bright spirit. His biography is too vast for a short note, and is kept alive by the many who encountered him along his life’s adventures, strangers and friends, periods from explorations of kinetic art in the 1960s and beyond to performances anywhere, and travel whether physical or otherwise. He spent his life around the world, at home everywhere and still home was also the Philippines, where he died peacefully.

“More than ever, we must make sure the bubbles of Cloud Canyons No. 31 continue endlessly and fully in our care—and most of all, welcome to the public to experience these clouds for always. We will do Medalla proud.

“When you visit the bubble machine, I encourage you take a moment to wish David the best for his next life, as he dances with ease among the brightest galaxies.”

Active Life Chicago PT Opens Clinics on different branches

The Philippines has always been lagging in a lot of things. Fashion, infrastructure, and medicinal breakthrough. This is the main reason why a lot of rich people go abroad to have their pains and illness taken cared of. We don’t have the latest technology nor do we have an advanced know how on what really works and what doesn’t.

Dr. Ronald Samaniego realized this predicament and decided after over a decade of gaining experience and knowledge in Seattle that the Philippines is where he wants to practice what he has mastered when it comes to physical therapy. He is a doctor of physical therapy who have over 10 years of experience. He also went through one of the most painful things that can happen to your muscle which is an ACL and so he knows what it is like to be on the other side of the fence.

This is why Active Life Chicago PT was put up. Dr. Ronald Samaniego believes that even when you are going through physical therapy, one can maintain an active lifestyle. He encourages movement and not just letting your muscles rot. He also believes that with the right program, almost anyone can recover from pain and bring back muscles that may have atrophied.

Active Life Chicago PT currently has over 10 clinics all over the metro which makes them easy to access for commuters. It can be quite challenging for the regular people who simply commute when specialty clinics are located in areas that are hard to get to without a car. This is one of the considerations that Active Life Chicago PT kept in mind and so they put up clinics in Mandaluyong, Quezon Avenue, Caloocan, Alabang, Nuvali, Bulacan, Binondo, Fairview, Makati, BGC, Antipolo, Pasay-Buendia, and Pampanga.

The good news for HMO holders (Cocolife, Maxicare, Medicard, PhilCare and ValuCare (subject to insurance approval) is that Active Life Chicago PT accepts them. However, they need to abide by the rules and regulations of the specified HMO. Active Life does not use hot packs, TENS, or ultrasound therapy. These are traditional methods that do not bring out results. Active Life is all about results and they want to see it within 3 sessions. As such, they only accept stroke patients within 6 months of the stroke because the longer it takes, the more impossible it is to be treated.

Active Life is not a miracle worker. They simply apply the latest technology and listen to what the patients complain of. They have video proofs on their Facebook accounts, client testimonials, and paying celebrities who believe in them. For those who are experiencing pain, chronic or otherwise, call call (02) 997-5704 or (0977) 292 2215 for a location near you, and for cost inquiries.

Interact with Their Pets from Afar with Pawbo+

Pawbo, now a wholly owned subsidiary of Acer, today announced the release of the new Pawbo+ interactive wireless pet camera with treat dispensing and laser pointing capabilities. The new product is an extension of Acers BeingWare™ initiative, as an integrated hardware, software, and service solution, and exemplifies the Acer Group’s mission to break barriers between people and technology.
No More Lonely Pets
Pawbo+ is designed for pet owners that have to leave their cats or small dogs at home alone throughout the day. Its internet-enabled wide-angle camera (130-degrees) and speaker/microphone combo let users check in on their pets visually and talk to them to provide comfort from afar. Such daily interactions can help to reduce pet anxiety caused by prolonged durations of being alone. With privacy in mind, the camera is designed to point slightly downward so that it only captures what pets are doing, while all communication is encrypted for added peace of mind.
A Fun and Interactive Experience
Using an iOS or Android device to view one’s pet remotely is just the first step. Pawbo+ also includes a collection of unique features that make viewing sessions playful and fun. Users can log in and serve up a tasty treat stored in Pawbo+’s built-in storage tray. Multiple ringtone notifications and treats help train pets to respond and encourage pets good behaviors. Pawbo+ has an integrated laser pointer that can be activated remotely to give owners a fun way to interact with their pets and keep them active.

Smart Design and Sharing
Designed for the modern lifestyle, Pawbo+ features an organic oval shape profile that sits stylishly in any corner of the home. Up to 8 concurrent users can log in to view Pawbo+ live streams, and the device can also be integrated with Dropbox and Google Drive so users can save their precious videos on the cloud easily. The Pawbo+ app also allows seamless photo sharing on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
The More the Merrier
Pet owners can expand the capabilities of Pawbo+  with 4 soon-to-be available accessories, including Pawbo Flash (artificial lighting for camera), Pawbo Munch (additional treat dispenser), Pawbo Catch (cat teaser), and Pawbo Punch (whac-a-mole game).
